These beautiful pens, hand crafted from Irish Whiskey barrels by Terry Williams in his County Down workshop, are steeped in Belfast’s history and tradition. Terry traces his wood crafting roots right back to his great grandfather, David who was a joiner in Harland and Wolff during the building of RMS Titanic and his grand mother Sarah who was witness to the great celebrations at the ships launch in May 1911. The family’s bond to the docks of Belfast continued through his father, Leslie, who left his native Swansea, itself a famous sea port, to work as a crane driver at Harland and Wolff. Leslie worked on the construction of the SS Canberra, Titanic Pen which during it’s 37 years in service, served in the Falklands war as a troop ship. It was from his father that Terry learned the art of woodturning, keeping alive the tradition of hand made items, which hold a uniqueness that cannot be replicated by machine.
